Changes keep coming for the Chicago Bears offense amid their disappointing slide.
The team announced it released guard Nate Davis on Wednesday.
Davis, the team's highest-paid offensive lineman, made two starts to open the season before he was benched. He has not appeared in a game since Week 5. For the season, Davis played 131 snaps over five games.
The oft-injured guard represents a swing and miss for general manager Ryan Poles. Chicago signed Davis to a three-year, $30 million contract, including $19.25 million guaranteed, in 2023 to help stabilize the middle of the line. For the money, the Bears got 13 starts from the 28-year-old.
As with all players released after the trade deadline, Davis is subject to waivers. Any team claiming the guard would take on the remaining $3.9 million fully guaranteed portion of his salary.
Chicago signed offensive lineman Jake Curhan to the active roster from the practice squad to take Davis' spot.
