For all of the attention that running back Matt Forte is receiving for having outplayed his rookie contract, he isn't the only Chicago Bears star with a gripe.
The Bears have yet to begin discussions with elite safety Chris Harris, who is scheduled to make just $1.5 million this season in the final year of his deal. Harris was a key component behind Chicago's defensive resurgence last season, anchoring the secondary and performing at an All-Pro level. He also became a vocal leader and locker-room spokesman for the team.
Harris gambled on himself a year ago, accepting a paycut and a reworked deal to facilitate a trade from the Carolina Panthers to the Bears. The thinking was that if he performed as expected, a new, longer-term deal was on the horizon.
Harris held up his end of the bargain and hasn't complained or said a word about his deal.
