Believeland: Ad agency retires sad Browns QB jersey

Hope has arrived in The Land. The Cavaliers are NBA champions and the city of Cleveland can no longer be dismissed as a town of forever sports losers.

Advertising agency Brokaw Inc. has seized on this time of cheer by saying goodbye to one of the most famous (internet) symbols of the city's professional sports futility. The firm announced Monday it will no longer use its front-window display to showcase the Browns jersey that listed each of the team's star-crossed quarterbacks since the franchise's 1999 reboot.

"It's a new day in Cleveland," Tim Brokaw of Brokaw, Inc., wrote in an email to ESPN.com. "We want to be a part of that."

The jersey ran 24 names deep from Tim Couch through Johnny Manziel. Each time a passer's time ended in Cleveland, another piece of tape was added with a name in black marker. It was quite a ridiculous sight. Robert Griffin III and Josh McCown seemed destined to join that sad company, but now we'll never know.

Well, unless the Browns start 0-4 and some other business in Cleveland creates and displays their own sad QB jersey. Yeah ... that's probably exactly what's going to happen. Way to drop the best free advertising you'll ever get, Brokaw.
