Bengals RB Giovani Bernard suffers concussion in loss

The Bengals running back was knocked out on a helmet-to-helmet hit by Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker Ryan Shazier after catching a pass late in the third quarter.

Bernard was quickly ruled out and is in concussion protocol.

Bernard was ruled down on the play, but Steelers coach Mike Tomlin challenged the call on the field. Refs ruled the ball was fumbled after contact, wiping away a Bengals scoring position.

Following the play, Bengals running back Jeremy Hill scuffled with several Steelers players on the field, leading to a fracas between the rivals.

The Bengals also lost cornerback Dre Kirkpatrick (quad) and safety Reggie Nelson (ankle) during the game.
