Bengals WR Ja'Marr Chase (rest/illness) active vs. Patriots amid contract dispute

Ja'Marr Chase will play sans a contract extension.

The Cincinnati Bengals star wide receiver is officially active for Sunday's game against the New England Patriots.

Chase intimated on Friday that he'd play even if sides couldn't close on a long-term extension. The wideout noted that he'd probably be limited after rarely participating during training camp.

Chase added that while he wanted long-term security, he wouldn't skip games to make it happen.

The Bengals will need the big-play weapon, as No. 2 wideout Tee Higgins is officially out due to a hamstring injury.

If Cincy keeps Chase on a snap count Sunday, they'll lean a lot on Andrei Iosivas , rookie Jermaine Burton, Trenton Irwin, and tight ends Mike Gesicki, Drew Sample, et al. in the passing attack.
