Cardinals president Michael Bidwill knows a good thing when he sees it.
After watching coach Bruce Arians and general manager Steve Keim build Arizona into a playoff team, Bidwell said Wednesday that he plans to extend both their contracts.
Combine on NFL Network
In advance of the draft, Marcus Mariota and others will look to showcase their skills at the combine (Feb. 17-23), only on NFL Network. **SCHEDULE**
"I think it's the right thing to do, and I want to reward people that have had success and brought success to the team," Bidwill told KMVP-FM in Arizona. "I can't think of two people more deserving -- coach of the year, two times in three years, executive of the year.
"They've both done tremendous jobs, brought tremendous leadership and success to the organization and I want to be in the habit of rewarding people that bring that kind of success."
The Cardinals signed Keim to a four-year contract in 2013. Arians soon after was inked for four years with a team option for a fifth. Bidwell told the station that he plans to get "something done here in the next few weeks."
The time is right. Arians has produced back-to-back double-digit-win seasons in his first two years in the desert. Keim -- who rose up through the ranks after 15 years in the team's front office -- has fortified the Cardinals with more than 400 roster moves since taking over as GM.
"(Arians is) like a brother, dad, coach, best friend -- all of that," defensive tackle Darnell Dockett told NFL Media's Michael Silver in November. "He don't give a (damn). But no matter how hard he is on you, he's gonna always have your back."
Now Bidwill has his.
