After Dallas Cowboys coach Jason Garrettfailed to clarify Wednesday who would be in charge of calling offensive plays in 2013, it was Bill Callahan's turn to try and shed some light on the matter.
Unfortunately, the offensive coordinator didn't make the issue any clearer Thursday, characterizing play-calling decisions as a group effort by the coaching staff.
"Everything we do is in a collaborative fashion and there's no premium you can put on in terms of getting along and working together," Callahan said. "I checked my ego at the door a long time ago, so it doesn't matter who calls the plays, we know what the play is going to be."
Callahan skirted the question of who will be calling offensive plays for the Cowboys next season.
"Well, like I said, I think Jason addressed that yesterday," Callahan said. "I've got the utmost confidence in coach Garrett and what he believes and how he wants to go about the process of going through play calling.
"My job and my function as an assistant is to serve the head coach, and I'm going to do that to the best of my ability."
Garrett said the decision as to whom will call the team's plays will be his decision, but wasn't sure who would be given that responsibility. The Cowboys have until their season opener on Sept. 8 to figure it out.
