Bills starting LT Bell expects to be back for game vs. Browns

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. -- Buffalo Bills starting left tackle Demetrius Bell returned to practice and is expected to play against the Cleveland Browns on Sunday.

Bell said after practice Wednesday that he felt ready to play after a groin injury forced him to miss last Sunday's 38-10 loss at Miami. Reserve defensive tackle John McCargo (groin) also practiced after missing last weekend's game.

Starting safeties Donte Whitner (right thumb) and Bryan Scott (left ankle) didn't practice and are likely to miss their second consecutive game. Reserve defensive end Chris Ellis' status is uncertain. He remains excused after his mother died last weekend.

In a bid to bolster their run defense, the Bills shifted veteran starter Kawika Mitchell from outside to middle linebacker.
