Bills TE Fine out for season with knee injury; Klopfenstein signs

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. -- Derek Fine's season is over after the Buffalo Bills placed the veteran tight end on injured reserve because of a knee injury.

Fine will be replaced by Joe Klopfenstein, whom the Bills signed Wednesday.

The moves came one day after defensive coordinator Perry Fewell was promoted to interim head coach following Dick Jauron's dismissal. Buffalo (3-6) plays at Jacksonville on Sunday.

Klopfenstein, a 2006 second-round draft pick, spent three seasons with the St. Louis Rams before being released in September. He has 33 catches for 386 yards and two touchdowns in 48 career games.

Buffalo also shuffled its practice squad by signing offensive lineman Christian Gaddis and placing wide receiver C.J. Hawthorne on the injured list.
