NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reported Thursday that the team has agreed to terms with the veteran kicker on a one-year, $1.02 million deal, according to a source involved in the deal.
It's far from a long-term commitment for Cundiff, who punched in 21 of 26 field-goal attempts last season after the Browns picked him up days before their regular-season opener against the Miami Dolphins. The 33-year-old's previous stops include the Washington Redskins, Baltimore Ravens, New Orleans Saints and Dallas Cowboys.
The short-term deal doesn't prohibit Cleveland from bringing in competition, but it does allow the Browns to head into free agency with one less to-do in what promises to be an active offseason along the shores of Lake Erie.
