Colts linebacker Bjoern Werner is inactive for the AFC Championship Game, the team announced 90 minutes prior to kickoff on Sunday.
It's a surprising development for the former 2013 first-round pick, who played both of the Colts' postseason tilts.
Werner was benched during the Broncos game last week. He also did not play in the season finale against the Titans. It's still unclear why he won't be suiting up Sunday.
The Colts are also without running back Trent Richardson, who's dealing with a family emergency.
For the Patriots, running back Jonas Gray is active. Gray, who hasn't carried the ball in almost a month, will look to regain some of the form he showed during his 37-carry, 201 yard coming-out party against the Colts in Week 11.
