Brady Quinn says he's cleared to play for Chiefs

Brady Quinn is back in the fold for a Kansas City Chiefs team that's still feeling around for its second win of the season.

The quarterback told The Kansas City Star he's been cleared to return to practice and play Sunday against the Cincinnati Bengals. Brady missed the past two games with a concussion suffered in Week 8 against the Oakland Raiders.

Coach Romeo Crennel tapped Quinn to start against Oakland, but was forced to re-insert the struggling Matt Cassel when his starter went down. Crennel told reporters Quinn wouldn't lose the job because of the concussion, but the coach has moved away from those comments in recent days.

Cassel was bland in defeat to the San Diego Chargers and last night's overtime loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers, completing 30 of 55 passes for 335 yards with no touchdowns and a pair of picks.

Quinn deserves another look. After all, the Chiefs are 1-8 with nothing to lose. There's reason to believe neither of these quarterbacks -- or their coach -- will be back next season in Kansas City barring a wild return to life.
