The New York Giants didn't get embarrassed in Dallas but still picked up a seventh consecutive loss in a mistake-filled game, falling, 27-20, to the Cowboys.
Despite the 2-10 record, coach Brian Daboll said Thursday he's not fretting about his job status.
"No," Daboll said, via NJ.com. "I don't like the results. Nobody likes the results. But I have confidence in the people. We've just got to do better."
The 2-10 record is New York's worst start since 2019 (also started 2-10), Pat Shurmur's second and final season as Big Blue's coach. The seven consecutive losses also marks the longest streak for the club since 2019 (nine games).
Thursday, the Giants opened the scoring and made it interesting late with a 10-point fourth quarter, but it was a sloppy affair from the visitors that left most in a tryptophan-induced coma.
Drew Lock, starting in place of the injured Tommy DeVito (forearm), passed for 178 yards on 21-of-35 attempts with an interception for a 66.9 passer rating. The quarterback also had a fumble to open the third quarter, which led to a Cowboys touchdown that blew the game open. New York generated just 247 total yards and went 3 of 12 on third downs.
Daboll's club also committed 13 penalties for 98 yards.
Last month, Giants owner John Mara said he didn’t anticipate making any changes to the team's brass for 2025. However, as the losses mount, it will remain a question mark for a club that continues to spiral. Will Mara remain steadfast in his support of Daboll and general manager Joe Schoen, or change gears?
With the loss, Big Blue is the first club officially eliminated from playoff contention.
