Broncos bring back DL Smith but release starting LB Davis

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. -- The Denver Broncos announced Thursday that they had re-signed defensive lineman Le Kevin Smith and released starting inside linebacker Andra Davis.

Terms of Smith's deal weren't disclosed.

Smith is a four-year pro who played in 11 games with two starts in his first season with the Broncos, who acquired him from the New England Patriots in an Aug. 17 trade. Smith has 19 tackles, two sacks and one fumble recovery in 42 career regular-season games.

Davis is a eight-year pro who had 90 tackles, 3.5 sacks and three pass breakups in 16 games, including 13 starts, for the Broncos last season.

The Broncos also released defensive lineman J'Vonne Parker, who didn't play in his only season in Denver after being placed on injured reserve Aug. 8.
