The Denver Broncos announced on Monday that they have released running back Justin Fargas, ending the veteran's brief stay with the team.
Fargas was signed by Denver as a free agent on Aug. 11 to add depth while Knowshon Moreno, Correll Buckhalter and LenDale White all dealt with injuries that kept them sidelined.
Fargas was second on the Raiders in rushing with 491 yards and three touchdowns last season, averaging only 3.8 yards per carry. He had led the team in rushing the previous three seasons, with his best year coming in 2007 when he gained 1,009 yards on the ground and scored four touchdowns.
Fargas had 10 carries for 17 yards this preseason.
The Broncos also announced they have designated cornerback Tony Carter as waived-injured. Carter joined the club as a college free agent on April 27, 2009.
