Browns DB Roberson injured during drills. taken for tests

BEREA, Ohio -- Defensive back Chris Roberson was carted off the Cleveland Browns' practice field Wednesday with an undisclosed injury.

Roberson, signed as a free agent in January, fell awkwardly while trying to defend a pass against Josh Cribbs during a morning practice. Roberson crumpled to the ground, Cribbs fell on top of him and then made a spectacular one-handed grab.

Fans applauded the catch, then everyone fell silent when Roberson didn't get up. After trainers attended to him, Roberson was helped to his feet, placed on a cart and taken from the field.

Browns coach Eric Mangini said Roberson was taken for tests.

Mangini also downplayed defensive lineman Shaun Rogers' work on the blocking sleds.

"I don't think we're close right now," Mangini said of Rogers, who hasn't yet passed his physical after missing the final five games a year ago because of a broken leg. "I think we're quite a ways away."

Roberson played six games for the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2005 after being drafted by them in the seventh round out of Eastern Michigan. He missed the next two seasons with a shoulder injury and played one game for the Detroit Lions in 2009.
