The Buccaneers traded down in the first round of the NFL Draft and still got the cornerback they wanted in Vernon Hargreaves. They got the No. 11 overall pick signed before the team's rookie minicamp.
The Florida product is extremely young for a rookie at only 20 years old and showed excellent ball skills in college. Tampa will expect him to start right away, raising questions about how the rest of the Bucs secondary will shake out.
The team also added Brent Grimes and Josh Robinson to the mix this offseason, and they still have Alterraun Verner and former second round pick Johnthan Banks from the old Bucs regime. While Tampa still needs help at safety, it's a nice new "problem" for the Bucs to have too many cornerbacks.
Hargreaves projects as an elite slot cornerback at worst although his lack of size could show up on the outside. Look for him to get thrown into the fire quickly.
