Alex Magee became the latest member of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' organization to run afoul of the law this year.
The defensive lineman was arrested Monday and charged with possession of marijuana and driving with an expired tag, *The Tampa Tribune* reported.
Both crimes are classified as misdemeanors. A court date was set, and Magee was released on his own recognizance.
Police records didn't show if Magee had an attorney. An after-hours telephone message that The Associated Press left with the Bucs wasn't immediately returned.
The Tampa Police Department said the arrest happened just before 1:15 p.m. ET, when a police officer pulled over Magee's black Dodge Charger for having an expired tag. The officer recognized the smell of marijuana in the car and proceeded to search the vehicle, finding a small amount of the drug.
Magee, 24, finished last season with the Bucs after being acquired in a midseason trade from the Kansas City Chiefs, who selected him out of Purdue in the third round of the 2009 NFL Draft. He appeared in 10 games last season, totaling two sacks and eight tackles.
Magee is the fourth member of the Bucs to be arrested in just over two months. Cornerback Aqib Talib was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon March 30. Director of pro scouting Shelton Quarles (March 4) and assistant to the head coach Jayson Kaiser (April 20) both were arrested on driving under the influence charges.
