The NFL fined the Tampa Bay Buccaneers $250,000 for inappropriate contact with players during the NFL lockout, a league source confirmed Sunday.
The NFL declined comment on the matter.
Bucs coach Raheem Morrissaid Sept. 12 that he had called two players during the 4½-month lockout, when such contact wasn't permissible. Morris said he called tight end Kellen Winslow Jr. to congratulate him on the birth of his child and phoned Aqib Talib after the cornerback went to jail in connection to a shooting in Texas.
Sources with knowledge of the situation said Sept. 23 that the Bucs received a substantial fine.
