Chan Gailey milked the most out of C.J. Spiller during their time together, leading to the running back's breakout 2012 season.
The soon-to-be free agent gushed earlier in the week about the prospects of Rex Ryan in Buffalo, but told the New York Daily News' Manish Mehta on Thursday that he could visualize himself back with Gailey, who is expected to be the Jets' new offensive coordinator.
"There is that familiarity between me and him in that offense," Spiller said. "So that would be a perfect match. Who knows what can happen, but I'd be foolish not to have those guys on my list. I had my best years in the league with Chan. So it'd be dumb not to give it serious thought."
Spiller piled up 1,703 total yards with eight touchdowns and an NFL-best 6.0 yards per carry in his final season under Gailey. Bills coach Doug Marrone could never quite figure out how to unleash the shifty back the past two seasons.
The Jets could be in the market for a game-changing runner like Spiller after the Chris Johnson experiment burned out -- Johnson, due $4 million, is a candidate to be released this offseason. In Gailey's offense, Spiller and Chris Ivory could be an enticing 1-2 punch.
