Cable: Raiders negotiating long-term contract with Seymour

ALAMEDA, Calif. -- Oakland Raiders coach Tom Cable said the team is negotiating a long-term deal with free-agent defensive lineman Richard Seymour.

Cable said after the team's first minicamp practice Friday that the two sides are working on the deal, and that's why Seymour wasn't at the practice.

The Raiders placed the exclusive franchise tag designation on Seymour in February. That prohibited him from negotiating with other teams and guaranteed him $12.398 million for the 2010 season.

Seymour was paid about $3.7 million in 2009 after being acquired in a trade from the New England Patriots just before the start of the season. He had four sacks in 15 games for the Raiders.
