California redshirt sophomore cornerback Stefan McClure will miss the rest of the season after undergoing knee surgery, head coach Sonny Dykes said Thursday.

The Golden Bears will also be without linebacker Jalen Jefferson and backup corner Joel Willis because of head injuries for Saturday's game at UCLA, leaving nose tackle Deandre Coleman, linebacker Khairi Fortt and safety Michael Lowe as the only starters from the preseason depth chart in those same roles this week.
Dykes said he expects McClure, who suffered the injury in Cal's 44-22 loss to Washington State, back for spring practice.
McClure had 30 tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss and a team-best five pass breakups this season
As a true freshman, McClure held USC wide receiver Robert Woods, now a rookie for the Buffalo Bills, to five catches for 36 yards in McClure's first career start, announcing himself as a major talent. However, McClure missed all of last season after tearing his ACL, MCL and meniscus late in the 2011 season.
Whether McClure can recapture the impressive form he has shown in his 16 career appearances will be a key factor in determining the future trajectory of Cal football. In the short term, Cal is staring at the very real prospect of allowing 30 or more points in every game this season.
