Though he's not coming off an injury -- unless his back is sore from being patted too much this offseason -- quarterback Cam Newton will be among the players in attendance to work on his timing with the rookie receivers, Joseph Person of the Charlotte Observer reported Saturday.
"That'll give us a chance to get those guys a little more acclimated because they really didn't get a chance to participate in minicamp," Panthers coach Ron Rivera told the Observer. "It'll give us a chance to see where they all are. Hopefully, they're all 100 percent."
The Panthers used a fourth-round draft pick on wide receiver Joe Adams and added a handful of undrafted receivers, including Jared Green and Rico Wallace. According to a source with knowledge of their contracts, Green and Wallace each received $7,500 signing bonuses, tying for the highest handed out by the Panthers this offseason. Those bonuses are a sign that the two could be in the mix for spots on the 53-man roster this season.
Panthers veterans report to Wofford College in Spartanburg, S.C., on July 27 and the team will conduct its first full-squad practice this Saturday.
