With the confidence that his city is known for, Giants defensive tackle Chris Canty promised New Yorkers a victory parade next week, implying his team will beat the New England Patriots in the Super Bowl.
"Get ready for a great game on Super Bowl Sunday," Canty said, according to the New York Daily News. "And get ready for a parade on Tuesday."
The Patriots weren't fazed.
"They've got a parade?" wide receiver Deion Branch said in response, according to the Daily News. "I don't know, man. Anybody can throw a parade. I can throw a parade if I want to. I think anybody can throw a parade."
Branch has participated in two Super Bowls (XXXVIII and XXXIX), both of which the Patriots won. Canty, who was a member of the Dallas Cowboys when the Giants upset the Patriots in Super Bowl XLII, will be playing in his first Super Bowl.
Patriots left tackle Matt Light said such talk goes "in one ear and out the other," but one player even seemed to empathize with Canty.

"When a guy says (what Canty said), you don't really take offense to it because what else is he supposed to think?" cornerback Devin McCourty said. "He's not supposed to think he's going to walk off the field a loser in the Super Bowl."
Giants coach Tom Coughlin was asked Friday about his team's bravado this week.
"I know there's been one or two quotes out there, but to be honest, I don't think it's any different than Tom Brady's (quotes)," Coughlin said, referring to Brady's Sunday statement that he hoped to see Patriots fans at a Super Bowl victory parade. "I think it's just a matter of our team has played good football against great football teams. We always quote to our team: 'humble enough to prepare, confident enough to perform.' That's the way we look at it."
