The Arizona Cardinals elevated cornerback A.J. Jefferson from their practice squad Tuesday and released cornerback Brandon McDonald.
Jefferson, an undrafted rookie from Fresno State, was inactive for the first three games of the season, released Sept. 27 and then re-signed to the practice squad one day later.
McDonald, a fourth-year pro from Memphis, played in two games for the Cardinals this season after spending three years with the Cleveland Browns, for whom he started 25 games in 2008 and '09. He had five interceptions in 2008.
