Cardinals second-year OLB BJ Ojulari out for season with torn ACL

BJ Ojulari went down during the Arizona Cardinals' practice on Friday, and he won't be able to return to the squad until next season.

Ojulari, who was carted off the practice field, suffered a torn ACL in his left knee and will miss the 2024 season, NFL Network's Cameron Wolfe reported Saturday, per a source.

Cardinals coach Jonathan Gannon confirmed Saturday that Ojulari injured his knee, will be placed on injured reserve and will miss the upcoming campaign.

There were high hopes for the Cardinals outside linebacker, who was a 2023 NFL Draft second-round pick, but they're dashed for a year in the desert.

In Ojulari's absence, Dennis Gardeck should play a bigger role for the Cards, and Victor Dimukeje is likely to see more reps at outside backer, as well.

Ojulari didn't register any starts for Arizona as a rookie, but he played in all 17 games, producing four sacks, 40 tackles and 20 total pressures, per PFF.

It's a major blow not just for the talented 22-year-old but for the Cardinals, as head coach Jonathan Gannon's squad is looking to build around a plethora of young players, but has been hit with a sizable injury before the team could even kick off the preseason.
