The College Football 24/7 home page and @NFLCFB Twitter account are great ways to keep up with all the major news surrounding the college game. But what about the things that pop up on social media and don't make the headlines?
Well, we've come to answer that call by scouring Twitter, Instagram, Facebook and other social-media networks most coaches can't pronounce to find some of the best posts. Here are some of the things that caught our eye this week:
Actor Ben Affleck was on the Michigan State campus this week as part of filming for his new role as Batman and stopped by Spartans practice to give the team a few words of wisdom. Hopefully, things will turn out better for the Spartans than they did for the Longhorns after Matthew McConaughey stopped by.
That wasn't the only movie reference Michigan State coach Mark Dantonio made this week at practice, though. Who knew he liked Disney movies?
Chicago Bears running back Ka'Deem Carey was one of the most prolific running backs in college football last season for Arizona. Sadly, the person sending out the FWAA awards didn't notice that and instead sent his All-America plaque to Arizona State this week. It did eventually make its way to Tucson but not after a little good-natured ribbing between the rivals.
Oregon is busting out some slick throwback uniforms this week to celebrate the most famous interception in school history against rival Washington, known simply as "The Pick." It's not a stretch to say the play turned around the team's fortunes under then-head coach Rich Brooks.
The Ducks aren't the only ones who will be using throwback uniforms this week, as Northwestern will take us back to olden times with the use of a Gothic font.
One team that typically has stayed away from alternate uniforms is USC. The Trojans appear to be softening their stance (yay recruiting!) and will use a shiny metallic helmet as part of their setup this week for homecoming against Colorado.
Before Pitt's big win over Virginia Tech on Thursday night, Panthers running back James Conner received a pregame call from Seattle Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch.
Stanford is sending out an impressive mailer to its Class of 2015 and 2016 recruits this week, showing how the Cardinal stack up in the financial world compared to its ranked peers.
Finally, this week marked the four-year anniversary since Eric LeGrand tragically suffered paralysis from a hit during a Rutgers game. LeGrand continued to inspire people with his personality and his fight in rehab by posting this on Twitter. We're all pulling for you, Eric!
