Former Florida CB Vernon Hargreaves was selected No. 11 overall by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the 2016 NFL Draft, and Teez Tabor might be every bit as talented as Hargreaves.
Tabor, a junior, is the No. 1 DB to watch in college football, according to NFL Media draft analyst Lance Zierlein. Tabor led the Gators with 14 pass breakups (four interceptions) last season. At 6-foot, 201 pounds, Tabor has the size NFL scouts seek.
Tabor -- who prefers to go by Teez rather than Jalen -- has been suspended for the season opener against UMass.
Pulling back the curtain on the vote
Tabor earned votes from all seven CFB 24/7 analysts. Of those seven votes, two were in the top five. In CFB 24/7's "16 for '16" series, Tabor was rated No. 1 on the list of college football cornerbacks we'd most like to see try to cover Odell Beckham of the New York Giants.
What some of our analysts are saying about Tabor
"Tabor has all of the tools to be a lockdown cornerback. He's long, athletic and instinctive." -- Daniel Jeremiah
"Long, rangy cover corner with superb bump-and-run skills. Tabor could be CFB's version of Nmandi Asomugha with his size and length creating problems for receivers on the perimeter." -- Bucky Brooks
"What does it tell you about Tabor when some quarterbacks were more willing to challenge Vernon Hargreaves last season? Tabor allows a low completion percentage and almost no touchdowns. He has the physical traits to become a high-end NFL player as well." -- Lance Zierlein
"He's bold, he's brash, and he backs it up on the field. At SEC Media Days, UF DB Marcus Maye told College Football 24/7 the only difference between Tabor and Vernon Hargreaves is Tabor's proclivity to talk on the field." -- Chase Goodbread
"Yet another excellent corner in the Joe Haden-Vernon Hargreaves mold coming out of Florida? Absolutely. He doesn't take second place to anyone in terms of competitiveness." -- Chad Reuter
"Built like a CB out of Central Casting ... long, lean, can run. Might be the best lockdown CB in the country." -- Charles Davis
Where do fans rank Tabor?
We asked Twitter users who they considered the best player in college football. Tabor received only one vote. This vote took place before he changed his first name to Teez (would the publicity from the name change have helped him in the vote?). Fans should become more familiar with Tabor's game this season.
