Jim Harbaugh is so hot right now.
The new Los Angeles Chargers head coach comes with his own style, often leaving onlookers chuckling at his takes on life. Whether it's commenting on the vitality of whole milk or questioning the skittishness absorbed from eating a chicken, Harbaugh certainly is a unique character in the football world.
In L.A., the coach has made striking impressions with many new players. Linebacker Denzel Perryman, entering his 10th NFL season, had a humorous response when asked for his first take on the new coach.
"My first impressions of Harbaugh -- I hope I don't get in trouble for this, but he reminds me of Will Ferrell," Perryman said Monday, laughing, via team transcript. "I don't know if it's the way that he speaks, his analogies and everything, but they really remind me of Will Ferrell. It's just funny to me. It's funny, but I know he means well and that everything comes from the heart. I feel like you have to have a sense of humor to understand his lines and gimmicks."
Hopefully, Perryman gets shades of Old School, Elf, Anchorman or Step Brothers Will Ferrell and less Semi-Pro.
"Nah, just Will Ferrell in general. Talladega Nights might get me in trouble," he said. "Step Brothers is a good one. I don't know, man. He's just giving Will Ferrell vibes.
"I don't know if it's his tone of voice or the way he talks in general, but the first thing that comes to mind is Will Ferrell. I mean, I do take him seriously. Everything he says, I take seriously though. But when he does joke around, I start cracking up in my seat."
Perryman clearly meant the comparison as a compliment.
"I love him. I love him," he said. "As a coach, like I said, I love the direction he has us going in. He played the game. He played here. He understands."
Having played in the NFL for nearly a decade, the linebacker has the sweat equity to compare Harbaugh to a comedian known for outlandish characters without making too many waves. Perryman knows Harbaugh will probably return with a quirky comeback.
"[I haven't told him that] yet. Not yet. I'm pretty sure he'll hear this and talk to me about it tomorrow," the linebacker said.
Perryman spent his first six seasons with the Chargers before spending two in Las Vegas and last season with the Houston Texans. His return to L.A. coincides with Harbaugh's arrival and a new era of Chargers football.
Here is hoping Harbaugh decides to pull a half-naked Frank Ricard during a preseason halftime meeting, yelling at his team to "keep our composure!"
