Garcetti spokesman Jeff Millman confirmed the meeting to the Los Angeles Times and said the mayor "would welcome a team anywhere in the Los Angeles area."
NFL Media's Steve Wyche and Albert Breer reported last week that the NFL has initiated the process to secure temporary stadiums in Southern California for 2016. Among the considered venues are L.A. Memorial Coliseum, the Rose Bowl, Dodger Stadium, Angel Stadium and the StubHub Center.
The Chargers/Raiders joint project in Carson is estimated to have a 2019 completion date, while Rams owner Stan Kroenke's proposed Inglewood project is targeted for completion in 2018. The league has not put a deadline on the temporary stadium proposals, but would like them to be presented to the owners at the special meeting on Los Angeles, set for August in Chicago.
