The Kansas City Chiefs announced Saturday that starting left tackle Branden Albert did not travel with the team to Washington for Sunday's game against the Redskins.
Albert missed the entire week of practice and was listed as questionable with an ankle injury he suffered in last week's loss to the Cowboys. His absence means veteran backup Wade Smith will likely get the start.
The Chiefs also promoted tackle Barry Richardson from the practice squad to the 53-man roster and released linebacker Justin Rogers.
Richardson played six games for the Chiefs last season and was added to the practice squad after being waived out of training camp. He will provide depth against Washington with Albert out.
Rogers, who played 15 games with Dallas last season, signed with the Chiefs on Thursday.
