KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- The Kansas City Chiefs signed return specialist B.J. Sams to a one-year contract and fullback Chris Manderino to a two-year deal.
Sams, who played his first three seasons with Baltimore, missed 15 games last season with torn knee ligaments. Sams has a career punt-return average of 10.9 yards and has returned two punts for touchdowns, both in 2004. He has averaged 22.9 yards on kickoff returns.
Manderino entered the NFL as a rookie free agent with Cincinnati in 2006. He spent the entire 2007 season on the Bengals' practice squad. Manderino will compete to replace starting fullback Kris Wilson, a converted tight end who signed with Philadelphia during the offseason.
