Chiefs place RB Battle on injured reserve ahead of season finale

The Kansas City Chiefs announced Saturday that running back Jackie Battle has been placed on season-ending injured reserve, making him unavailable for Sunday's finale against the Denver Broncos.

The Chiefs signed running back Shaun Draughn to the 53-man roster for depth at the position.

Battle originally was listed as doubtful for the game because of a foot injury he suffered during last week's loss to the Oakland Raiders. Veteran Thomas Jones and second-year pro Dexter McCluster likely will share duties against the Broncos, who would claim the AFC West title with a victory.

Battle, who's in his fifth NFL season, played in the previous 15 games, rushing for 597 yards and two touchdowns. He made four starts after the Chiefs lost star running back Jamaal Charles to a season-ending knee injury in Week 2.
