Riley Cooper began training camp as a supporting player in the Philadelphia Eagles' offense. Things escalated quickly.
The team was rocked when Jeremy Maclin suffered a season-ending knee injury in training camp. Suddenly, Cooper was being asked to serve as the Eagles' No. 2 wide receiver.
Cooper appears to be out of his depth, though his coach thinks otherwise.
"Riley's done an unbelievable job," Chip Kelly said Thursday, via the Philadelphia Inquirer. "Especially blocking on the perimeter, great red zone target for us."
A seemingly hyperbolic assessment from his coach, though we do see Cooper's potential near the end zone. He showed off his ability to use his size and strength on a 13-yard touchdown reception in Week 2 against the San Diego Chargers.
But that's the extent of the highlight reel to this point. Cooper has work to do to quiet the doubters. Believe that.
