Chris Canty to miss 2-3 weeks after surgery, per report

The Baltimore Ravens are down a man on their run-stuffing defensive line.

Chris Canty is expected to miss another two to three weeks after undergoing successful wrist surgery to remove an infection, Aaron Wilson of The Baltimore Sun reported Wednesday.

Canty sat out Sunday's loss to the Indianapolis Colts, leaving DeAngelo Tyson to man the starting tackle slot alongside Brandon Williams and Haloti Ngata. Canty started 13 games for the Ravens last season after long stints with the Giants and Cowboys. The 31-year-old lineman is signed through next season.

As much credit as Baltimore's revamped offensive line deserves for keeping Joe Flacco upright this season, the Ravens' defense has contributed weekly with one of the NFL's stingiest fronts against the run. Getting Canty back into the mix -- say, three weeks from now -- would help during a late October slate that includes the Bengals, Steelers and Titans before the team's Week 11 bye.
