Matthews, a three-time Pro Bowl selection, missed last week's win over the Detroit Lions and didn't practice Friday. Packers coach Mike McCarthy listed Matthews as doubtful earlier this week.

The Packers would love to have Matthews available against the Giants, but they'll have to wait at least another week before he returns to the gridiron. Matthews has dealt with off-and-on hamstring problems for years, but the Packers are eager to get him back on the field.

While the Packers will go another week without one of their defensive leaders, there's a chance wide receiver Greg Jennings could play. Jennings hasn't played since Sept. 30 because of an abdominal tear, and he has been listed as questionable after practicing on a limited basis Friday.
