Joseph Person of The Charlotte Observer reported Tuesday that the team agreed to terms on a one-year pact with the 33-year-old defensive tackle who started 13 games for the Panthers last season. The signing ensures that Carolina's nasty front seven will remain together for another campaign.
Cole played five seasons with the Packers and two with the Seahawks before missing 2011 and 2012 with ankle problems. He returned to rack up 316 snaps and a sack for the Panthers last season, and will play a supporting role behind Star Lotulelei come September.
Cole struggled for stretches against the run and finished as the 61st-rated player at his position in 2013, per Pro Football Focus. On the upside, he won't cost much to keep around.
UPDATE: The Panthersofficially announced the Cole re-signing Wednesday morning.
