Colts cut defensive back Pender, claim Richardson off waivers

INDIANAPOLIS -- The Indianapolis Colts have released defensive back David Pender and have claimed defensive back Mike Richardson off waivers from Kansas City.

Pender had been promoted to the Colts' active roster from the practice squad Dec. 8 after Bob Sanders went on injured reserve with a torn biceps muscle.

Richardson was New England's sixth-round draft pick in 2007. He spent 2008 on the Patriots' practice squad and active roster, then played in Kansas City in 2009. He was released during this season's final cutdown, re-signed with the Chiefs on Dec. 1 and was waived again on Sunday.
