Colts DT Foster carted off field after leg injury

Indianapolis Colts defensive tackle Eric Foster was carted off the field in the second quarter of Monday night's game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Monday night.

Foster dislocated his right ankle, The Indianapolis Star reported, when teammate Tyler Brayton fell on Foster's leg while in pursuit of Tampa Bay quarterback Josh Freeman with 52 seconds remaining in the half. The player was transported to a Tampa-area hospital, will remain there overnight for observations and is not expected to travel back to Indianapolis with the team, NFL.com's Jeff Darlington reports.

Several Colts players were in tears as the Colts medical staff attended to Foster. Foster pounded his chest and signaled to his teammates as the cart left the field.

Colts coach Jim Caldwell said after the game that the injury will require surgery.

Foster is a fourth-year player from Rutgers.
