Thanks to the departure of Dan Quinn, Micah Parsons had a new defensive system to learn when he arrived at training camp this summer.
After digesting Mike Zimmer's system during install, Parsons is officially comfortable -- and ready to wreak havoc.
"Yeah, it's pretty much over and I'm in rhythm now," Parsons said Monday, via the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. "The first few days. I haven't played in seven, eight months. I mean, I know my angles. I feel like I'm in week four right now. I'm in rhythm. There's nothing they can do. They might as well start chipping, sliding, or it's gonna be a long day here.
"If they don't chip, there will be a five-, six-sack day every day. It's pretty much over. I'm gonna tell you that right now. This is this is what it's gonna keep looking."
Parsons certainly has the track record to back up such confident statements. He's a two-time All-Pro, three-time Pro Bowler, the 2021 Defensive Rookie of the Year and one of the most fearsome pass rushers in the NFL. Much of the offseason talk regarding Dallas' defense and their change at coordinator has included prognosticators salivating over the possibilities, and for good reason.
Before he arrived in Dallas, Zimmer established a rock-solid reputation as a defensive mastermind during his days as Cincinnati's DC before moving onto the head coaching job in Minnesota. No matter where he's been, his defenses have been ferocious, creatively deploying their top rushers to cause nightmares for opposing quarterbacks.
He's never quite had a talent like Parsons, though. Now that the dynamite rusher knows Zimmer's scheme, watch out. And good luck to his Cowboys teammates for the remainder of camp.
