Bill Cowher's name always seems to come up this time of year.
The former coach stepped away from the sideline in 2007 after 15 seasons with the Pittsburgh Steelers. Cowher posted an impressive record of 149-90-1 in Pittsburgh with a Super Bowl title in 2005. Cowher now works as an analyst for CBS, a job he said Friday he has no interest in leaving for a return to the coaching ranks.
"It was great this year to be on the sidelines for some of the Thursday games (for CBS) and get to be up close to it," he told SiriusXM NFL Radio, via ESPN.com. "You see the officials, you see some of the assistant coaches ... it does get your blood going. But no, I'm in a really good place. I really enjoy my job at CBS. I'm enjoying all the involvement with that and the Thursday football.
"It's good. I'm in a good place. You're not going to see me on the sidelines. I enjoy it, I miss it, but not enough to get back."
Cowher has been linked to the Giants for years, but Tom Coughlin was told earlier this week he will return for a 12th season with Big Blue. There are job openings with the Bills, Falcons, Jets, 49ers and Bears, but don't expect to hear Cowher's name connected with any of them.
