The Seattle Seahawks haven't wasted any time finding Gus Bradley's successor.
Dan Quinn has been hired as defensive coordinator of the Seahawks, the team announced Thursday, just hours after Bradley, the Seahawks' former coordinator, was picked to be head coach of the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Quinn spent the past two seasons running the defense at the University of Florida, but he now returns to Seattle, where he served as defensive line coach from 2009 to 2010. Before his stint with the Seahawks, Quinn coached the defensive line for the San Francisco 49ers (2003 to 2004), Miami Dolphins (2005 to 2006) and New York Jets (2007 to 2008). He's viewed around the NFL as a competent defensive mind.
Instead of adopting a work-in-progress, Quinn inherits the NFL's fourth-ranked defense, which allowed a league-best 15.3 points per game in 2012. Numbers aside, Seattle caused massive headaches for opposing quarterbacks with an aggressive pass rush that threw offenses off their rhythm.
The Seahawks have one of the most athletic, speed-oriented defenses in football, and Quinn now is tasked with keeping that group as productive as it was in 2012.
