DENVER (AP) - The Denver Broncos will be without team leader Brian Dawkins in a pivotal game against the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday.
Dawkins has been hampered by a sore neck and didn't practice all week.
The 16-year veteran is responsible for the presnap defensive adjustments from his strong safety spot. However, he's been on the sideline for all but one quarter over the last two games after he pinched a nerve in his neck against Chicago on Dec. 11. David Bruton likely will step in for Dawkins.
The Chiefs are without safety Jon McGraw (ankle). They also signed running back Shaun Draughn to the active roster on Saturday after placing leading rusher Jackie Battle (foot) on injured reserve.
Denver is attempting to clinch its first playoff berth since 2005.
