On the Week 3 recap edition of the Around The NFL Podcast, Gregg Rosenthal labeled DeAndre Hopkins' one-handed, 53-yard circus catch the greatest meaningless catch in NFL history.
Had the reception not been nullified by penalty, the second-year breakout candidate would have finished with a single-game career-high 169 yards.
"It was a fantastic catch," coach Bill O'Brien said, via the team's official website. "He's having a really good year. He's a guy that has come up with some really big catches for us. Just a very, very enjoyable guy to coach. ... He's a really, really good young player who has an excellent future. We need to do a better job of getting him the ball."
Hopkins is tied for 15th in yards among wide receivers, but he ranks just 43rd in targets.
It's refreshing to hear that O'Brien plans to get him more involved.
As a rookie, Hopkins drew just two more targets than tight end Garrett Graham in Gary Kubiak's offense. That can't happen again if the Texans are going to challenge the Colts for the AFC South title.
