Tampa Bay Buccaneers linebacker Geno Hayes reached an agreement with prosecutors Monday that resulted in a disorderly conduct charge from a December incident being dropped. Hayes also pleaded no contest to a trespassing charge for the same incident, according to the *St. Petersburg Times*.
Hayes was charged with the two misdemeanors in December following a dispute at a popular Tampa nightclub. Police said the 6-foot-1, 226-pound Hayes became aggressive while intervening in a dispute that led to two other men being asked to leave the entrance to the Blue Martini Lounge.
Hayes was ejected after ignoring an order to go back into the club, instead remaining at the entry "making derogatory statements and menacingly staring" at police and security personnel, authorities said.
According to the police report, an officer used an electronic control device on Hayes when the linebacker returned to the lounge and became disruptive while a friend was looking for a credit card the athlete said he left behind.
Hayes, 23, was arrested shortly after 2 a.m. and released on $750 bond about three hours later.
According to the newspaper, the court will not make a ruling on the trespassing charge. Hayes will only need to pay $265 in court fees.
Hayes, a starter the past two years, finished the past season with 82 tackes, four sacks, one forced fumble and one interception.
