DeMarco Murray expected to play against Jets

Philadelphia Eagles running back DeMarco Murray should have the opportunity to send his season in a more positive direction on Sunday at the Meadowlands.

Murray, who has been nursing a hamstring injury, is expected to play against the New York Jets in Week 3, a source informed of the player's situation told NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport on Friday.

Murray suffered the injury during Wednesday's practice and was held out of practice Thursday. Murray has gotten off to a miserable start in his first season with the Eagles, rushing for just 11 yards on 21 carries in losses to the Atlanta Falcons and Dallas Cowboys.

Murray appeared in 16 games for the Cowboys last season, the first time he'd played an entire season without missing a game because of injury.

Murray could end up being a complementary piece on Sunday, playing against a Jets team with a stout defensive line. An uptick in carries for Ryan Mathews and Darren Sproles should be expected.
