DeMarco Murray feasted both times he faced the St. Louis Rams. The Dallas Cowboys running back ran for 253 and 175 yards in those respective outings (a 214-yard average).
So what will those performances mean when he faces the Rams on Sunday?
"Um, nothing," Murray said succinctly, per ESPNDallas.com.
The Rams are under a different coordinator now (Gregg Williams) than they were when they faced the Cowboys last year -- and the team is a long way from when Murray scampered for that franchise-record 253 yards in 2011.
"I think you've got to be really careful of going back and saying, 'Boy, he plays great against these guys,' " coach Jason Garrett said. "Well, these guys aren't necessarily the same guys he's played against in the past. But, he's certainly playing well right now. We've run the ball well the first couple weeks, and he's been a big part of it."
Through two games, the Rams' defense has been banged up. St. Louis is without defensive end Chris Long, has given up an average of 171 yards per game on the ground and, surprisingly, has just one sack as a unit.
Murray is leading the NFL with 142.5 yards per game.
With Tony Romo still not looking full-go coming off back surgery, the Cowboys should lean on Murray again this week. Past performances against St. Louis might not indicate Sunday's outcome, but that doesn't mean Murray won't replicate them anyway.
