The Philadelphia Eagles agreed Monday to a one-year contract with defensive tackle Derek Landri, who rejoins what he called "the best defensive line in the NFL last year," , according to the team's official website.

"We have (the) potential to be better than we were last year, and we left a few things on the table last year," Landri said. "I'm not satisfied at all with the outcome, and I decided to come back and be a part of it."
Landri reportedly hoped for more than a one-year deal from the Eagles and believed he and the team were close to an agreement about two weeks ago before offensive tackle Jason Peters ruptured his Achilles.
"I actually thought I wasn't going to be back there, but both sides had cool heads and we wound up getting something done," Landri said.
Landri, who's entering his sixth NFL season, has played in 63 games and collected 103 tackles and eight sacks. Landri played in 12 games with the Eagles last season and recorded 21 tackles and two sacks.
Landri originally was a fifth-round draft pick of the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2007 and spent his first three seasons with the team. He started 16 games with the Carolina Panthers in 2010 and set career highs with 43 tackles and three sacks.
