Dion Jordan poised for 'big things,' Dennis Hickey says

In the wake of a report that the Philadelphia Eaglesthrew out a trade offer for Dion Jordan, Miami Dolphins general manager Dennis Hickey is downplaying the notion that the young pass rusher is on the market.

Appearing on WQAM-AM on Tuesday morning, Hickey said, per The Palm Beach Post, the Dolphins are "excited" about Jordan going forward and "looking for big things from him."

"He's a very talented player and this is a big offseason for him," Hickey continued. "Last year with his shoulder he didn't have an opportunity to have a full offseason. That's so important."

For all of that praise, Hickey did not confirm or deny trade talks involving the No. 3 overall pick in the 2013 NFL Draft.

It's natural to believe Hickey might not be as high on Jordan as outgoing general manager Jeff Ireland, who traded up to land the Oregon star.

Until the Dolphins come out and promote Jordan to a starting job and declare that he's off the table, teams will continue to operate under the assumption that he can pried away for the right price.
