Though it might not be a full speed, the Miami Dolphins' backfield will still have plenty to burn.
Running back De'Von Achane is active for the Dolphins' AFC East showdown against the Buffalo Bills Thursday night on Prime Video.
Achane was questionable ahead of Thursday with an ankle injury, but will not join Raheem Mostert (chest) on the sidelines for the Dolphins.
Even with Achane giving it a go, veteran Jeff Wilson is likely to get a sizable role and rookie speedster Jaylen Wright, who was inactive in Week 1, likely will get a chance to contribute as the Dolphins are sans Mostert.
In a Week 1 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars, the Fins were held to a meager 81 rushing yards as a team, led by Wilson's 26 yards in five carries, while Mostert was held to nine yards on six carries and Achane was corralled for 24 yards on 10 carries.
Miami will look to reestablish its running game against the reigning AFC East champs, who allowed only 67 yards to running backs in their win last week over the Arizona Cardinals.
Though he struggled to hit the next gear in the rushing game, Achane, who was sidelined six games as a rookie with shoulder and knee injuries, was a boon for the passing game in Week 1, having tallied seven receptions for 76 yards against the Jags.
An absolute burner who averaged an eye-popping 7.8 yards per carry as a rookie en route to 800 yards and eight touchdowns, Achane's game-breaking ability maintains the Dolphins running game's potential for explosives, just like the team's passing game.
Mostert's out, but Achane will give it a go for the Fins (1-0), who kick off their AFC East matchup with the Bills (1-0) at 8:15 p.m. tonight.
